Are Small Dark Maroon-colored Bruises On The Abdomen A Cause For Concern?

Hello, I noticed a small nickel size bruise on the left side of my son s abdomen a couple of weeks ago. Over time it looked like it was healing( color changes). Tonight, I put him in the bath and noticed the bruise is dark purple/maroon again. He is 6 years old. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Normally bruises heal within 2 weeks. Because this lesion has lasted for two weeks or improved and returned, it is best to have it checked with the doctor to make sure it is nothing worrisome.

I hope I have answered your query and have been helpful to you.

I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
