Are Small, Hard And Painful Bumps In Armpit Signs Of Bacterial Infection?

Hi my name is Lisa. I noticed a small, hard, painful bump in my armpit 4 days ago and thought it must have been from shaving or maybe an ingrown hair. The next day i noticed 2 more bumps. They have gotten bigger and more swollen and hard past couple days. My boyfriend found one in his armpit the day after i noticed mine, so i knew it couldnt have been from shaving because he doesnt shave his armpits lol.. Wondering if its contagious and maybe i passed it on to him? Bacterial infection or something?
