Are Stem Cell Injections Effective In The Treatment Of Knee Pain?
My daughter is 47 and has problems with her knees for several knees. She is getting cortisone shots every three months for at least 2-3 years. I ve been hearing a lot about stem cell injections for knee problems and other things, but I don t know much about it. Could you please explain it to me, how they do it, does insurance cover it? Her knees are so bad that she s walking bowlegged and with a limp, but the doctors will not do a total knee replacement because of her age. Thanks
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Stem cell injections doesn't shows any promising results in patients with knee pain. These are extremely costly and doesn't have enough studies to claim its efficacy. You can continue steroid injection which is economical and have better results.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
