Are Sudden Bout Of Charlie Horse Across The Chest And Cold Sweats Serious?

My husband had a sudden bout of what he called charlie horses across his chest last night while we were playing a computer video game we play everynight. They were so bad he stopped what he was doing and laid down on the floor for relief. He also broke out in a cold sweat and had a flushed face and chest. I took his Bp it was 155/93. He has been hypertensive since young adulthood. When he started complaining about his arms hurting too and asking me to grab him some old painkillers he had from the dentist last year is when I got nervous and wanted to call 911. Eventually the pain subsided. He had been sanding wood railing a good portion of the day. Should I have called or was it really muscle spasms?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

You should take him to the ER and get an ECG done. We cannot rule out a heart attack by this data and it has to be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
