Are Sudden Heavy Periods Despite Having Implanon Insertion A Concern?

Hi I ve had the implanon in for roughly 1.5 years and I haven t had any periods since I put it in. All of a sudden I have started getting them really heavy and constantly. Is this an issue? Does this mean it is not protecting me against pregnancy? And is there a way of making them stop again?

Hi, I think you are having a breakthrough bleed which is a side effect of implanon. You can take some medicines like Tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. It will go away with time. But consult a gynecologist to rule out any other cause of bleeding.
