General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Generally heart problems cause swelling in the lower legs but no pain. It generally effects the ankles and shins and rarely extend to the knees. The knees are not expected to be painful if the swelling comes from the heart problems. The swelling of the hands and eyelids is another symptoms that is not generally caused by heart problems. Sometimes arthritis might cause all the symptoms you are having and rarely kidney function problems might cause leg, face and arm swelling.
What I would recommend is:
1. Have some basic tests to check for rheumatic disease that might effect the joints on arms and legs. these tests would be CBC, ERS, RF, ANA, anti dsDNA tests.
2. It would be good to have some general checks if you have not had one in the last 2 years. This would be: fasting sugar, lipids, creatinine in serum, ALT, urinalysis
3. After checking these tests you will be able to have more information on the cause of the swelling you are having and also know better which is the best plan.
Hope this is helpful to you and answers to your question

Best regards,

Dr Antoneta
