Are Swelling And Soreness At The Injury Site On The Head A Concern?
I week ago I fell and hit the back of my head very hard on the door frame. The spot where I hit my head swelled up to the size of a silver dollar. The swelling has gone down all but a size of a nickel. The area is still very sore. I did not pass out and seemed fine. since it has been a week and is this sore still, what is your recommendation
I would recommend simply giving it time. Since the swelling has been going down albeit slowly there is no reason to fear for an evolving infection or bleeding in the soft tissue.
Regarding brain issues those symptoms do not indicate anything in that regard. The brain is located inside the skull and has no relation with the swelling or soreness of the scalp.
If there were brain lesions they would manifest with intense headache and vomiting, seizures, altered consciousness or behavior and neurological deficits (like double vision, visual loss, weakness or numbness of the limbs etc).
So no reason for particular concern, should simply wait and see.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
