Are Swelling And Water Retention On Body Side Effects Of Alka Seltzers?

I swell everyday, and take lasix to get the water off, lately my stomach has been upset and I ve taken a few plain Alka Seltzers and it seem the swelling is worse. Is this a side effect and does the sodium in the Alka Seltzer make it worse? Thanks, Tom Barnes

Hello there tom,
The sodium in alka setzer may trigger water retention. Other non obvious triggers include Chinese food, packaged food containing MSG, pickles, sauces, chips. Avoid all of these in diet. You can also have bananas or coconut water in moderation. The potassium in these helps counter the sodium excess. Also lasix causes potassium loss too so this helps balance out the loss.
Hope this helps,
