Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Swollen And Bleeding Tonsils With Fever In A Child A Cause For Concern?
My 6 year old daughter has swollen tonsils, and one side is bleeding a little. It s the weekend so my GP is emergency only. Should I get her in tomorrow (Sunday) or wait until Monday? She also has a headache and tummy ache, and a temp of 37/38.5 all the time. Any advice would be gratefully received, thank you.
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. It is tonsillitis and is very common in kids. You need not worry as everything will be fine after careful examination and assessment by the Ottorhinolaryngologist.
Just give Tylenol Infantile syrup to your kid for temperature and lapse this holiday. Afterwards make an appointment with an Ottorhinolaryngologist. He may start with some antibiotics and once the infection is settled, he may go for Elective Tonsillectomy (if indicated).
I have tried my best to answer your questions. But sometimes things are left doubtful. Please don't hesitant to ask me for further assistance if needed.
Regards! DR.HANIF USA
