Are Swollen Feet, Tremors In Arm And Speech Difficulty Side Effects Of Zyprexa?

My Adult son was prescribed zyprexa 5 10mg once per day in 2003. He is now 35 years old and experiencing side affects which we are very concerned at this point. Swelling in both feet. Tremors in left arm. Memory and speech difficulty. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your adult son is in.

a. Swelling in both feet might be due to:

- problems with legs/feet blood vessels : echo Doppler of legs blood vessels is advised to rule it out
- kidney problems: urine analysis, kidney function test and abdominal ultrasound is advised to exclude them
- liver problems to be ruled out by liver function test

b. Tremors in left arm and memory and speech difficulty might be possible side effects of taking Zyprexa (olanzepine). I advise to discuss it further with the doctor who prescribed Zyprexa about possibility of changing therapy and to run further investigations.
