Are Swollen Itchy And Red Red Spots Suggestive Of Snake Bite?

I don t know if I have been bitten by a snake. There are two red bite marks. Yesterday it was swollen, red and itchy. Today it looks a little purply and veiny. I live in upstate New York, about 30 min. South of the Adirondack Mountains. We have a rocky hilly front yard and see snakes often, but we always thought they were Gardner snakes. Today it no longer itches and the swelling has gone down. There is no pain. Should I see a doctor, or just wait and see? Perhaps it was an aggressive mosquito? I never saw a snake.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is unlikely to be a snakebite. As the local reaction has settled no further treatment is required. If you have symptoms like bleeding or weakness consult a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
