Are Swollen, Red Welts In The Foot And Toes Suggestive Of Spider Bites?
Hi - I have three swollen red welts on my right foot near the toes. There is a dark 1/4 inch circle around two of the swelling areas. My foot really hurts and I wonder if I have spider bites? They are getting worse and swelling more. I woke up yesterday with an itchy foot and it seemed like a spider bit me... I pulled out a black stinger. What should I do? Bev
As per your query you have symptoms of swollen, red welts in the foot and toes which seems to be due to a spider bite and infection by the sting of bite venom.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you apply little pressure on that area with cotton dipped in warm water to ooze out the pus properly. Apply betadine over the area and clean that area properly with an antimicrobial agent. Use of corticosteroid ointment is helpful. Take antibiotics orally to prevent further infection. Use calamine lotion on that to resolve itchiness. I would suggest you visit a dermatologist once to find out any hidden cause for your symptoms and start treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
