Are Tanned Patches Near The Genitalia, Observed After Cleaning Pubic Hair, A Concern?

I ve recently shaved my pubic hair. I used to have a lightly tanned patch of skin above and to the side of my genitalia, darker than the rest. It s not irritated or swollen and I never would have seen it had I not shaved. This time when I shaved however, it was a few shades darker and I have noticed several other tanned patches in the pubic area. Is this cause for concern? They aren t lumps and aren t red or irritated at all, simply tanned patches. Male/21/189cm/92kg/No relevant medical history.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Generally, it will settle by itself. In extreme cases, you can opt for laser therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
