Are The Blood Test Levels A Cause For Concern?

Hello doctor...my mother's diabetes was under control until a while ago...she has stopped going for walks for a while now and when she got the tests done today, here reports read

GLYCOSYLATED HAEMOGLOBIN (HbA1c) : 9.6%
MEAN BLOOD GLUCOSE (PAST 60 DAYS): 264.46 mg/dl

Could you please let me know if it is a cause of concern and what are the next steps to be taken

Thank you so much...

Regards
Ajay

Diabetologist 's  Response
hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

The sugar level you have mentioned are higher than normal.

The HbA1c value is also higher. In such cases, either the dose is increased or a new drug is added to the present drug after discussing with your treating doctor.

If sugar levels are not under control even with the triple drug combination, then insulin is advised. You can discuss regarding these with your treating doctor.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you.
