Are The High Values Of Amylase, Lipase And WBC Something To Be Concerned About?
My daughter has been in extreme pain on her left side right below her rib for several months now. These are the recent blood work results: AMYLASE 112 ( 28-100) LIPASE 73 (13-60) CRP 7.1 (0-3) WBC 10.59 ( 4-10) Are these results something to be concerned about?
Hi, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. Elevated levels of amylase and lipase occur in cases of pancreatitis. With elevated CRP and WBC levels, most likely she is having an acute attack of pancreatitis. You can undergo an ultrasound/CT abdomen for assesing the extent of involvement of pancreas as elevated levels of amylase/lipase is not an accurate assessment of degree of involvement of pancreas. CT abdomen will be a better investigation for assessment. It needs to be managed properly and you should consult a gastroenterologist for the same and get treated as early as possible. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing your daughter a speedy recovery. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiology
