Are There Any Amusement Rides I Should Avoid Post Stent Placement And TAVR?

I am a 63 year old woman and I had a stent placed in my right coronary artery in December of 2020 and then a TAVR procedure to replace my aortic valve in January of 2021. I’ve been doing very well and my pulse and blood pressure are under control and my valve team has released me from their care. I am going to Universal Studios in Orlando tomorrow. I am not doing any roller coasters, although my family wants me to go in Hagrid’s motorcycle ride. Are there any rides I should avoid?

Hello,

As you are taking blood thinners, you are at a higher risk for bleeding in case of possible accident or trauma. That is why, I would recommend avoiding activities which may impose a high risk for trauma or blood pressure spikes (too much adrenaline or anxiety).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
