General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your 14 year old son who had Typhoid and developed pain in abdomen now but no fever, loss of appetite and so on as you have mentioned.
Your Doctor has suggested for 5 days of antibiotic course and tests for tuberculosis.
If you are staying in India or Asian countries the chances of tuberculosis are always there.
Hence it is best to get the tuberculosis diagnosed or ruled out by relevant all tests as tuberculosis os curable if diagnosed within time and well treated for a full course.
He will need the following:
Tests of blood like TB gold test, CBC, ESR, tests for liver and kidney functions as baseline.
X-ray of chest.
CT scan for abdomen.
Stool tests for 3 consecutive days.
Obviously clinical examination by a Pediatrician, Pediatric Surgeon can help further.
If the cause is surgical like appendicitis or so, he will need surgery.
Even worms can cause pain in abdomen.
SO the best way is to get evaluated and investigated to know the exact cause and get treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
