I don t really have any symptoms besides some puffiness under my eyes and a little occasional numbness on my left leg. (Doctor said it could be back pain). The doctor ordered some blood tests and they all came out normal. So I don t worry he sent me for an ultra-sound and there where he said they have found a shadow on my left kidney, so in order to see what s in there if there something he said I have to get a CT Scan done. I know the amount of radiation is really high (100-1000 times a regular x Ray) therefore I am really hesitated to put myself under unnecessary radiation knowing that MRI is available. The thing is that it seems that MRI is twice more expensive than a CT Scan and the doctor and hospital are trying to sell me the idea that MRI can not really see very well stones, cysts or tumors. I have 38, I don t smoke nor do I drink, I eat healthy and practice sports, my inmune system has always been good, overall I am good shape and healthy. I really don t want to expose myself to high dose radiation and I am thinking on switching doctor and insurance just because of this. Could you please tell me if CT Scans are the only option to see through kidneys or MRIs can be used as well ? Thanks for your time, Joseph
