Are There Any Side Effects For Taking Low Dosage Of Suboxone For Long Periods?

I have been on suboxen for 9 years and currently take 3 x .05mg films a day. Due to the new law in Ohio I must start attending meetings again. I know the suboxen keeps me clean and accountable, why are they now trying to push people of of it only after a year? are there any long term effects of taking such a low dose this long?

Short answer: Yes there are adverse effects of long term Suboxone therapy

Detailed answer:
Though Suboxone is a very good drug to help overcome withdrawal symptoms of Opiate addiction, Its use for a long duration has its own demerits.
Long term use of Suboxone itself can cause withdrawal symptom on discontinuation, which may include:
Anxiety
Night sweats
Depression
Fatigue
Restlessness
Muscle cramping and pain
lack of motivation
loss of libido
Sleeplessness
Psychosis (in some cases)

So Preferably Suboxone should be used only to treat the withdrawal symptoms and then tapered off gradually.
