Are There Any Side Effects From Bro Zedex Cough Syrup?

what are the side effects of bro-zedex cough sirop? i got it yesterday for my 3 years old son who had catarrh and cough. after administering the drug this morning, my son became restless and started breathing pretty fast(unusual). he was taken to the hospital and the doctor listened to his heartbeat and told me my son has ashma. how can that be? could it be the drug reaction?
