Are There Any Side Effects Of Inhaling Burnt Plastic Fumes?
I left baby bottles on stove to sterilize them an fell asleep. I woke up 3 hours later to burning plastic smell and my apartment filled with a foggy smoke. I quickly opened windows and ran the fans . I fell back asleep and woke up with a headache feeling nauseas and my eyes are burning, I started coughing and felt short of breath. I took my steroid ihaler and my regular inhaler. My apartment still smells like plastic. Will it still harm me?
I went through your details. I don't see any chances of the plastic fumes harming you after all this had happened. It could have been almost 6 hours after you opened your apartment windows and let fresh air come in and expelled the fumes. Suffocation and breathlessness could have been possible in the initial stages. You should have choked if there were any problems. Therefore, now, there may not be anything to worry. Still, for your satisfaction, I suggest you to consult a physician.
