Hi,
Buspirone is an anti-anxiety drug to treat anxiety by controlling the effect of
neurotransmitters in brain. The common side effects are nausea, dizziness, drowsiness,
nervousness,
lightheadedness, etc. Coming to the condition you are suffering from,
giant cell arteritis is the inflammation of the lining of the large and medium sized arteries. It involves most commonly the arteries in the temple.
Significant complication in untreated patients is visual loss. Treated with high dose cortico-steroids such as prednisone. long term cortico-steroid therapy have some serious side effects such as osteoporosis(bone degeneration), weakness in the muscle,
high blood pressure. Balanced diet helps much to prevent the side effects of cortico-steroids. Weaning of cortico-steroid to the therapeutic level to control the level of inflammation helps in preventing side effects. The treatment may be extended for the period of up to two years.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
