Are There Any Special Type Of Medications To Help People Who Cannot Swallow Pills?

yes, my mother is 91 years old and has problems swallowing pills - especially big pills. Some she can cut in half and that helps. She has tried the gel tablets PreVision for her age related macular degeneration. They cannot be cut in half since they are gel. So she has used I-Cap which she can cut in half and that helps somewhat. There are some other pills that can be a problem - so I found more gummie and powder over the counter medicine for fiber and vitamins. This all helps - but is there a pharmacy or company that specializes in helping form medicines in a format for people who cannot swallow pills easily. Thank You YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Few medicines are available in dispersible forms. They can be dissolved in water and drank. Few medicines are available in Rectal suppository form. To be inserted in rectum to get relief. Injectable form can be used in emergency. Syrup can be drank and convenient form though may be a costly affair and some times the pill can be crushed or a capsule can be emptied to take out powder, mix it with honey and given (if none of other convenient form is available).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
