Are There Any Test For Diagnosis For Scared Lungs Other Than Lung Function Test?

The doctor tells us that my husband has scared lungs. The only tests that have been done is a lung function test. He is on oxygen at night and whenever he s active. We are seeking a specialist for a second opinion. Are there other tests that can be done to give us more information? So far we have only been told that his breathing will continue to get worse.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
O can understand your situation and problem.
You should definitely consult pulmonologist for your husband.
As PFT (pulmonary function test) can determine only lung functions and not the scarring of lungs.
For the diagnosis of lung scarring , following investigations are available.
1. Chest x ray
2. CT thorax
3. Ventilation perfusion scan (VQ scan).
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done above mentioned investigations to know the scarring of his lungs.
