Are There Any Tests To Diagnose Stomach Ulcer?

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ULCER HAS RETURNED? DURING THE DAY I AM NOT IN ANY PAIN BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT I WAKE UP WITH A URNING IN MY STOMACH. I LAY THERE FOR AWHILE BUT THE PAIN DOES NOT GO AWAY UNTIL I GET UP AND START TO MOVE AROUND. I DO NOT HAVE THE PAIN SOME OF THE TIME BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT WAKES ME UP AND I CAN NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP. I HAVE STARTED TO TAKE BIOTICS EXTRA STRENGTH STARTING TONIGHT

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You are a high-risk candidate for a recurrent stomach ulcer (peptic ulcer).
You can go for an endoscopy to look for any ulcer or erosions in the stomach or small bowel.
As of now you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.
Avoid spicy foods as it might worsen the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
