My Daughter is on a med called Auro- Mirtazapine I am wondering how long can she stay on this and is there with-drawl symptom when coming off. My concern is I have a friend dealing with Benzo with-drawl and it s not very nice. He s going through hell right now. Do I need to worry about something like this for my daughter down the road.

hi, i've read your question and understand your concerns. mirtazepine is a relatively safe drug and careful dosing should do more good than harm depending on your daughters diagnosis.(depression?) psychiatric medications are ususally given for a relatively long period of time. sudden withdrawal of the drug after prolonged use may result in a withdrawal syndrome.
but a careful and gradual lowering of the dosage of the medication by your physician depending on your daughters improvement in symptoms may not cause withdrawal symptoms.

wish you a speedy recovery..
