Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Thin Stools Indicative Of An Underlying Medical Condition?
Had an appendectomy a year ago. My appendix ruptured and spent 5 days in hospital. 3 months after i developed an abcess and was placed in hospital with drain tube for 5 days with iv antibiotics. Shortly after recovery I experienced extreme constipation, so bad it required gloves and some digging out because enemas was not working alone. Now my stool over 1 yr later is thin. The stool appears more elongated than bulky. My constipation has subsided with more fiber intake but my concern is the narrowing is that normal?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if this is the constipation then it may not be due to history of appendectomy but it could be due to less water intake and less fibber intake in diet so drink more water and have some fibber diet, and stop worrying and no need to be over conscious about this hope this information helps.
