Are Tooth Cavities The Cause For Dryness In Mouth?
I haven't gotten my teeth fixed in years(I have a lot of cavities need root canals and one chipped tooth in the back). Do you think a dental issue might be a cause for my mouth feeling dry?? It's really underneath my tounge and the sides of my cheek? Or should I go to a medical doctor?(I also don't take any prescribed medications,
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain dental cavities and infection are generally related with increased salivation and as you have a dry mouth it can be due to a number of causes like Salivary Gland disorders, nerve damage that supply Salivary Gland, Oral infections like Thrush, side effects of medicines, mouth breathing etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment of underlying problem can relieve the symptoms.. As of now chew sugar free chewing gum and suck tart candies as it helps in saliva stimulation.. You should take Artificial saliva drops. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
