Are Vomiting, Elevated Heart Rate And Low BP Related To Anxiety Problem?
I have a sister with mental health issues who lately is complaining of nausea vomitting elevated heart rate which she is very anxious about and low blood pressure. She has already been worked up for heart issues and no causes found. Her psychiatrist at the mental health hospital she is at thinks its anxiety related which is in agreement with what my husband and i have been concluding recently. She does not think so. No bmp has been ordered to check for dehydration and she insists she has been drinking enough though if her nausea really is as bad as she states, i have my doubts about her actual hydration.

Hi welcome to HCM I have gone thru your query regarding relation of anxiety to vomiting , elevated heart rate and low BP . Yes dear, Anxiety is a normal part of human life . If you repeatedly feel anxious and stressed, or if it lasts a long time, your body never gets the signal to return to normal functioning. That can weaken your immune system, can lead to cllnical depression. You are also at increased risk of diabetes, low / high blood pressure, and heart disease - When anxiety causes an elevated heart rate is combined with vomiting and or low BP, it can be a sign of something more serious. . Any time these symptoms occur together and are not relieved within a few days or continue without progress, a doctor should be -consulted .
I went through your details. Elavated heart rate, hypertension and nausea and vomiting are some of the symptoms of anxiety too. earlier the doctor examined her for heart related problems and you are convinced there is nothing to worry about. I do hope that the physician examined and investigated stomach related / endocrine related problems too. If these came clear, the only possibility left is extreme anxiety. Anxiety is usual in people who undergo health problems which are just detected. Such patients always complain they do not have anxiety, they are not worried etc. In fact, they are anxious.
