Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Weight Loss And Frequent Urination Symptoms Of Diabetes?
I ve experienced some gradual weight loss over the last 8-12 months. I was what would by medical standards be considered as obese ( 30%+ BMI ) but not grossly out of proportion (5 9-1/2 tall, 230 lbs. but a stocky build) but I remain fairly active. I ve dropped about 20-30 lbs during this time without exercise or property diet. I have done a lot of physical work aside from my normal desk job (I own apartments so I have renovated a few) during this period. I suspect diabetes (type 2) because I have had high blood sugar levels in the past, I am not sure but I have noticed that I urinate more often than in the past and I am usually thirsty after a big meal. However, I don t seem to have any nerve issues, I feel GREAT and I am getting more and more active as the weight comes off. Anything you could share with me that would lead you to believe it is not diabetes please let me know.
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that weight loss with excess urination can be diabetes symptoms and you should get a F/PPBS and HbA1c done. Consult back with reports.
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards Dr Bhanu Partap
