As A Child And Adolescent My Bilirubin Count Was Always

As a child and adolescent my bilirubin count was always very high. It once reached 77. The cause turned out to be spherocytosis. Not only was my spleen killing off blood cells prematurely when doing so the bile formed stones throughout my bile duct and gall bladder. My spleen weighted 7lbs when it was removed. My original hemotoligist never did figure out the cause of my problem. In fact he once told me mom I was not going to survive. Fortunately I was referred to a top notch Hemotoligist who figured it all out. For 20 years I lived with this. At one point my blood count was 3.1. I could not even stand up. The 105.5 fever was not helping either. No question here. I just thought I would remark about the elevated level of my bilirubin. I know 77 is off the charts. My skin was a deep yellow color as were my eyes.
