Atrial Fibrillation, Pedal Edema, Breathlessness, Prescribed Lasilactone. How Long To Take?
my mother had atrial fibriallation, pedal edema , shortness of breath. Her creatinine levels are within normal limits. serum potassium is 5.90 , the doctor prescribed lasilactone 50 mg along with ACE inhibitors and betablocker to be taken once a day. After discharge her pedal edema has gone away but how long does she have to take lasilactone 50 mg od.
Hi, going through your history of your mother I see her serum potassium level is high. In our clinic normal upper limit of serum potassium is 5.8 though it varies from clinic but the upper margin is around 5.6 to 5.9 . My advice to you would be to stop that particular cpombination of potassium sparing duretic aand loop diuretic and continue with only loop diuretics. Its always better to consult with your primary physician before changing any particular mediction. Take care
