Baby Fussy After Inhaling Or Swallowing Baby Oil. Suggestions?
I am worried my baby may have ingested baby oil. I used it on her dry skin in her bath. I applied 2 small squirts of it to my hand and put it directly on her skin because it was so dry. She then splashed the water pretty hard I am not sure if she inhaled or swallowed to water with oil in it but that was around 5:00 pm it s now 2:00am and she is uncontrollably fussy. She is hardly ever fussy unless she is hungry or sleepy. I am not sure what to do. Megan
From what you say, you just doubt she must have swallowed the splashed water with oil.
Did she cough/ vomit after that?
Usually when kids aspirate, they have a bad cough with or without problems in breathing.
And small quantities when ingested... as with splash will not be a problem.
But if you are not sure of the amount of oil ingested , its better to visit the ER, have her examined by a doctor.
Fussiness may be due to some other reasons like a viral illness, tummy problems, ear ache, teething or a simple nappy rash. A visit to your doctor will help you.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish a speedy recovery for your kid.
