Baby Having High Fever. Taken Calpol, Ibuprofen. No Relief. For How Long Should Medication Be Continued?
my daughter is 3 years old two weeks ago she bn having a high tep. of 38 i controled it with calpol and iburafen. my local gp said her body was fighting a virus and antibiotics were not needed. she seemed 2 b getting better on friday, but today her temp has shot back up again. how long can i use calpol for? and how long dose a viral infection last? thank you
VIRAL FEVER USUALLY TAKE 7-10 DAYS TO RESOLVE AND YOU CAN USE CALPOL FOR 10-14 DAYS CONTINEOUSLY IN 4-5 DIVIDED DOSES.
THOUGH IN VIRAL INFECTION DONT REQUIRE ANTIBIOTICS BUT MOST OF THE VIRAL INFECTION OF RESPIRATORY TRACT GET SECONDARILY INFECTED BY BACTERIA AND I THINK THAT IS HAPPEND IN YOUR CASES SO FEVER COME AGAIN ALSO AND IN THAT CASES ANTIBIOTICS IS MUST SO FIRST YOU DO A ROUTINE BLOOD TEST OF HB,TC,DC,ESR AND CHEST XRAY THAT WILL TELL IS IT VIRAL OR BACTERIAL THEN CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR A CHILD SPECIALIST AND I AM SURE DEPENDING ON THE REPORT HE WILL START AN ANTIBIOTICS.
