Baby Having Irregular Spots On Body. Could It Be Contacted From Another Child Who Has Measles?
We have been in Manila for about a week and woke up this morning and observed, for the first time a number of (5-7) flat brown spots on my 1.5 yr old daughter. Spots are irregular and look like henna ink. Initally I thought she has feces on her and after washing did not remove I thought possibly some type of ink pad type ink. After washing did not remove we became concerned. She is otherwise healthy with no other symptoms. We had just taken my 4 yr. old to a local clinic and discovered he has a mild form of children's measles even though he has been immunized w/the required 2 doses of MMR vaccine. Symptoms were very different; fever, tiny itcy red spots.
My initial impression was possibly a vitamin C deficiency as her diet has been very choosy of late. Please advise
Hi, Thanks and welcome to HCM. Some children develop mild measles without full blown picture ( modified measles) in spite of regular vaccination. It will pass off without any complications. Ofcourse measles is a contagious disease can be contacted from other children having measles. Hope you are fine with this answer Welcome further queries if any. Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam.
