Baby Losing Weight Since Breast Milk Is Not Being Expressed Properly. Prescribed Dexolac Instead Of Infamil. Which One Is Better?
my nephew is just 1 month old.he was 2.9 kilo when he was born.but after one month he is now 2.7 kilo.my sister's breast milk is not coming properly.she is trying hard but nothing is working.so we r bound to feed the baby formula milk.now he is taking infamill.but today doctor advised to giv him dexolac.my query is ..is dexolac is bettr than infamill?another thing he is always crying.we r confused why.plz help me suggesting what we should do.
Your nephew lost weight after 1 month of life and is now on formula feeding. As to the choice of formula there is no significant difference between the 2 brands. You can use either. But has the child gained weight after starting formula feeding. If the child is gaining adequate weight on formula feeds then we can assume that the weight loss was due to insufficient breast milk. But if he is still not gaining weight he needs to be thoroughly evaluated for an underlying medical cause.
There can be several reasons for his crying. Formula milk increases chances of colic and constipation which causes discomfort to the baby. I will advice you to continue breast feeding as well. If his crying is continuous and inconsolable please get him evaluated by a pediatrician.
