Baby Passed White Bowels After Taking Antibiotics For Strep Throat. Matter Of Concern?
Hi- My 17 month old daughter has just completed an antibiotic , amoxicillan for strep throat . I started giving her kefir and a juice, both with probiotics in the past two days after she completed the antibiotic. She is having quite a bit of bowel movement , and yesterday she delivered a white bowel movement. There are no othe problems shown. She is playing normally. Could the white bowel be a reason to take her to the Pediatrician? Thanks, Cordelia
For the stool color is responsible bile and intestine bacterias. White stool appears when the bile is not secreted into digestive tract. It happens when the liver do not work property or when the bile ducts are blocked for some reason (stones). So as you can see, white stool is quite serious problem and should not be neglected. It is advisable to have fool blood work with liver tests (AST,ALT, GGTP) and pancreas tests, urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound performed.
According to the results of this tests some other might be necessary. So you should visit your doctor.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
