Baby Passing Frequent Loose Stools Since Birth. Having Stool Slightly Acidic, Positive For WBC. Indications?
Hello, My daughter is 13 months old and have 8-10 loose stools a day and had them since birth. Her GI doctor did some stool test couple days ago. Results are 6.0 for Stool PH and Positive for WBC ,Feces/Lacoferri. She is miserable now with so many stools and diaper rash . She can t even digest even the blandest food anymore. I hope to hear from her GI doc soon. Please help me understand what these results mean.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your child is having loose motions since birth means almost 13 months is quite unusual.
What is her present weight?
Is there any weight loss?
It is chronic diarrhea and malabsorption syndromes, intolerance to lactose, fructose and sucrose to be ruled out by stool examination.
Some times chronic nonspecific diarrhea will present in toddlers with chronic diarrhea.
Your child needs evaluation, trials of lactose free diets, restriction of oral intake of fluids if it is more than 150ml/kg/day.
So be in regular follow up with your Pediatrician and gastroenterologist for the full evaluation and management.
Hope I have answered your query.
