How Should Gastroschisis, Diarrhea, Bloody Diaper Rash And Rectal Bleeding Be Treated?

18 month old girl born with Gastrocysis went in for routine shots 2 weeks ago. Began having diarrhea, terrible diaper rash, and now as of today she appears to have blood on the exterior from rash and some mixed in with her slimy stool and it is dark and she looks to have a gray looking spot in the stool as well. Please advise.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This suggest dysentery and might need antibiotic treatment and other supportive measures. Kindly discuss with your pediatrician. Meanwhile, give frequent sips of fluids like ORS to prevent dehydration

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
