Bad Temperament. How Do We Know If It Bipolar Disorder?

My sister has just lost her job. A couple of weeks before she has had a very extremely bad temper with family members (she is 53 years old). She has left the apartment she was sharing with a niece and left a disturbing note that she was leaving everything to her daughter. Our family thinks she may be mentally ill--bipolar? but we do not know how to seek psychiatric help for her. She refuses to talk to any of us. She does not have medical insurance. What can be done?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
hi, can understand your dilema , but you first need to find out any triggers or stressful event that may have lead to the aforementioned events. she being an adult will have to consent for psychiatric help, which again may be difficult if she is psychologically disturbed. psychiatric treatment laws are different in various countries, so first you may have ascertain whether she is of any danger to self or others.
