Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
why does my 13 year old daughter wet the bed on purpose? she wakes up and doesen t wnt to get up and pee at night so she lays in bed and wets herself and totally soaks her sheets and pj pants.
First find out if she is suffering from some form of anxiety or other psychological issues. Talk to her and find out. Don't be harsh on her. Does she have any other symptoms like fever, abdominal/back pain, increased frequency of micturition? Her bed wetting could also be due to urinary tract infection. Please visit a physician to rule out any bladder /kidney problems.Doc might want her to get urine routine and microscopic examination ,renal function test, USG of kidneys and bladder . In her case , it would be best if she doesn't drink water after 6pm in the evening. Before she goes to bed , tell her to go to the bathroom to pass urine. Set the alarm 3 hours after she sleeps, wake her up and take her to the bathroom. If her bedwetting is due to urine infection , once that is treated ,even bed-wetting will stop. Hope this helps :)
