i read your query.its true pain like this may be because
of tooth infected.pain in ear is due to infected tooth in lower
jaw.
i would advice you to get it clinicaly diagnose by a dentist
and get a xray done.
i would also prescribe you amoxicillin 500mg twice daily
with diclogesic twice daily after meal.
in case of acidity hav pan-d.

has your father opened mouth very widely?check whether there is clicking or popping noise heard while opening and closing mouth.also check for pain or tenderness in that area.try to move your jaws sideways and backforth too.
if all these occurs,there is chance of temporomandibular joint dislocation.
tmj dislocation can be treated by eminectomy.this involves excision of articular eminence and thus allows the condylar head to move anteroposteriorly free of obstruction.
also visit an ENT specialist to rule out the chance of any ear infection associated.
there is chance of infectious arthritis too.in such cases,there will be severe pain in the joint,with extreme tenderness on palpation.it can be treated by administration of antibiotics.in advanced cases,meniscectomy or condylectomy has been advocated.

i would be glad to answer your query, according to the dental history provided by you it seems that, the ear pain is not due the tooth as your dentist thoroughly checked it, it may be due to TMJ (joint).
sometimes, the joint developes pain and swelling, which then subsides with alternate warm and cold compresses.
just take care of your fathers diet, soft diet is recommended to avoid unnecessary pressure on the joint.
your dentist will prescribe muscle relaxants, which will take care of pain and swelling.

Pain at the back of ear suggest, some kind Dental disorders are the most common cause of referred pain to the ear. Recent dental work, infection in the tooth, an impacted tooth, an abscess and ill-fitting dentures can all cause ear pain.
The temporomandibular joint is near the ear, and degenerative disease and arthritis of the jaw can lead to earache.
Diseases of the neck like degenerative disease of the cervical spine can result in earache.
Tonsillitis, ulcers in the tongue and sore throat are other causes of earache.
With complaints of earache, you should get prompt medical advice and treatment of the underlying cause.

according to the history u gave there are no dental problems
well might be a case of TMJ dislocation
well i would advice you to go for physiotherepy of TMJ.
soft diet is recommended to avoid unnecessary pressure on the joint.
also please see to it that the patient should not open the mouth too wide,even while yawning chin should be supported by your palm.

i would also prescribe you amoxicillin 500mg twice daily
with diclogesic twice daily after meal.
muscle relaxants, which will take care of pain and swelling.
i would also reccomend you to consult an ENT also.

Thanks for asking query,

Pain behind the ear can be because of various ailments . Can be due to temporomandibular joint disorders , this may occur due to jaw injury or bruxism.
Apply moist heat or cold packs over the affected area for about 10 minutes.
eat soft diet .
For pain take tab combiflam twice daily for three days.

Advice to take a panoramic x-ray.

The pain can also be due to ear infections like otitis media, advice to meet a ENT specialist.

pain can also be due to several neuralgias like glossopharangeal neuralgia, bells palsy, visit to a oral surgeon to rule out the causes.

Try taking an advil, Tylenol, aspirin etc.

If it doesn't go away, you should go to a Walk-in Clinic or emergency. They will give you stronger antibiotics.

Try putting some ice and heat packs on it, it will numb up the pain for a little bit.

If the dental causes are ruled out, shuch pain could be due to some arthritic changes in the Tempromandibular joint (jaw joint), muscular pain of the muscles which help in chewing food, sinusitis, any other disease.
In old age, the teeth undergo age related changes like attrission, erosion and abrassion. Also, due to missing or highly restored teeth, the chewing pattern is altered. The result is extra pressure over the chewing muscles and jaw joint. I would advise you to go for radiographs like OPG and other joint radiographs.
For symptomatic releif, you should take soft food, chew it on both sides of teeth, go for hot water packs or warm compress as it is giving you releif. You can apply analgesic cream to the affected part. You can consult your Pain specialist if there is no releif.

I went through your history & this type of radiating pain may be due infected tooth in lower jaw of affected side. You need proper investigation & get an IOPAR i.e x-ray done of associated teeth.
Meanwhile can start with Amoxicillin 250- Cloxacillin 250 combination twice a day along with diclomol twice a day.In case of acidity start with aciloc once daily.
