Being A Diabetic, Should I Be Concerned About The Chronic Pain In My Leg After A Minor Injury?

I hit my leg several weeks ago on the corner of my car door. It still hurts, especially when touched. There is a slight red coloring to it. It never seemed to "bruise", but I remember thinking when it happened, boy that went deep. Is this abnormal? I am in my 50s, have diabetes, controlled by diet and pills.

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I think you need to get an x ray of the leg. you see such a long standing pain may actually be due to some internal damage.
of course diabetes affects the wound healing, but not so much if it is well controlled. the wounds (internal or external) take longer to heal, thats a known fact about diabetes.

besides i should warn you. you need to be more careful about your legs, diabetics develop neuropathy. so when they develop an injury, they very frequently do not realize it, and so have lots of complications secondary to this.

have your sugars checked regulaly

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
