Being On Birth Control, Why Do I Have Symptoms Of Pregnancy?
I'm on the birth control call Implanon. I am also overweight, for the past few weeks I've been having some symptoms relating to pregnancy. I'm almost at my two year mark with my birth control, could there be a possibility that my birth control has lost its effect and i got pregnant. I've taken two tests and both have come back negative
I understand your concern. The symptoms you are experiencing are most likely due to implanon. It acts for 3 years at least and may provide protection up to 4 years but the 3 years is recommended to avoid any loss in efficacy and inadvertant unwanted pregnancy. Also your urine pregnancy tests are negative.
I suggest that you consult your gynecologist and discuss these issues. If there is absent menses a short course of estrogens may help induce a period and decrease some of the symptoms. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
