Being Treated For Epididymitis. Taking 4th Round Of Antibiotics. Need To Learn More About It
This query is in regards to a condition known as epididymitis which my boyfriend is being treated for by a urologist since early March of this year. Now on his fourth round of antibiotics, surgery is being talked about but the knowledge gained of this condition has been mainly internet instead of the cunp that has been treating him. I guess I m asking where to go to learn more or maybe just an educated guess from a doctor who may know of this ailment
Hi, The testes are two in number, one on each side of the scrotum, and produce the sperm which are stored in structures called epididymes and this sperm is carried out through the vas into the male urinary tract. Often, an infection of the urinary tract can spread rapidly backwards through the vas and involve the epididymes, and can cause swelling and pain. If the infection causes an abscess, the pus needs to be let out surgically but otherwise most such infections respond very well to antibiotics. in your case, I suggest you discuss with the treating surgeon / urologist regarding the absolute indications for any surgery, just to confirm that future fertility is not compromised. Hope I have been able to help you. Regards.
