Hello, I am a 31 year old male. I had what appeared to be two small bites on my left hand five days ago. My hand was swollen and sore for 3-4 days and got better but not before I had another similar reaction on my other hand a day or so later. Finally, yesterday morning I awoke with a swollen eye lid (Right eye, top and bottom lid, pinkish, not bruised). The swelling almost closes my eye in the morning and wains a bit by evening. I have been using a cold press on and off in the day. What could be the cause? What should be my at home treatment?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us. What you are undergoing is an acute allergic reaction secondary to insect bite . Although home remedies ( like cold compresses)will help for temporary relief, I would suggest a direct examination by your physician or eye doctor to get a permanent solution and stop spreading of the lesions. It could be allergic or even a viral infection( like Molluscum contagiosum).
Until your appointment, continue with cold compresses and a dose of oral anti allergics, with oral anti inflammatory tablet(if painful) to get a short relief.
Hope this helps. Take care.
