Bitten By Dog, Scratch. Gave TT And Anti Rabies Vaccine. What Else Must Be Injected?
My son was bitten by a dog while he was walking on a street. He had only a small scratch and he went to school, but called us when he was asked to take precautions. The doctor gave a TT and an anti rabies vaccine . We are not sure about the dog. He doesn t have any problems. My question is , must he have more injections .secondly, should he avoid non veg even after 15 days ?
Hello. Welcome to hcm.
If you are sure that there are teeth marks on the bite site and there was bood, then he should get full course. Rabies is a serious disease and almost no cure,it is better to be vaccinated.
Also I advice you to observe the dog if possible for 10days as if rabies was present in the dog,it will die in ten days. He can have normal food as immunization is not affected by food. If he has fever or reactions to injection,it is advisable to avoid meat or oil foods till the symptoms subside.
All the best
