Bitten By Stray Dog. Wound Washed. Rabies And Tetanus Vaccination Taken. Any Further Advice?
My father was bitten by a stary dog on 25th June, 2012. I took him to a hospital where his wounds were washed with soap water and then dressed with Betadine lotion. He was also adminstered Rabipur and Tetanus Toxide. He has taken his next dosage of the Rabipur vaccine on the 28th and will have his next 2 dosage sceduled on 2nd July and 9th July. Please suggest if you further advise in this regard. regards

You are going in the correct track.The doctors at the hospital had done the correct procedures in sequence : washing with soap and betadine. Third important step of giving tetanus toxoid and Rabipur has been done. The dosage schedule is June 25( day 0) , June 28 ( day 3) July 2 ( day 7 ) and July 9 ( day 14 ). 5 th dose should be one july 23 ( day 28 ). If the dog has been biting others, it was a unprovoked bite ( your father did not do anything, it just came and bit him) or the dog has died or has been for lost for follow up it is worth taking an additionaldose on 24 th septemeber.
