Bitten By Stray Dog, Took Tetanus, Rabipur Vaccinations. Dog Died. Treatment To Rule Out Rabies?

My son aged 14 years was bitten by the stray dog on 31 may 2013 and accordingly he was administered tetanus with in one hour and first dose of rabipur on 31 may and subsequent doses on June 03, June 07, June 14 and June 28. I am not sure but some one told me that the dog has died within 10 days. one medical officer suggested me to go for 14 injections on stomach near navel for complete cure. Request suggest me what is the actual course of anti rabis treatment need to be administered to my son to rule out the possibility of rabbis.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child received the complete anti rabies vaccination of 5 doses as per the schedule.

This complete schedule is enough and will protect the child from developing rabies.

Fourteen injections on the stomach near navel is an outdated one and it is not required in your child.

Your child is protected as he received the complete schedule of anti rabies vaccination, so nothing to worry.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
