Bitten By Vaccinated Pet Dog. History Of Being Bitten By The Same Dog And Completed Anti Rabies Vaccine Dosage 6 Months Back. Revaccination Needed?
good day Doc., last 6 to 7 months ago i was bitten of my pet dog.. even though my dog is complete in vaccine, our Doctor recommend me to have an anti rabies vaccine and i complete the dose needed. Here is my question now, last night i was bitten again with the same dog. Do i need to have again an anti rabies vaccine? How long is the effectivity of anti rabies to a human?
Hello Welcome to HCM Good Evening, It very sad to know that you have been bitten again by your dog for second time. It is better you take Anti Rabies vaccine even if dog has been vaccinated and you have been vaccinated previously. It always better to take a booster dose because the Rabies disease has no cure but can be effectively prevented with vaccine. Once if have taken a vaccine the response to vaccine will be good as antibody to rabies virus in our body are produced even more readily. But need for vaccine depends upon the severity of your injuries which can be decided by your physician.
